A chapter of National Assistance League®
|
Assistance League North Coast works in conjunction with New Haven Youth and
Family Services serving the needs of at-risk boys ages 12-18. Shopping trips with
the boys for clothing and shoes are always a great experience for members and
boys alike.
Thanks to a grant, we were able to purchase enough books to start a library on
the New Haven campus. They'd never had one before. This grant also included
giving subscriptions to magazines, which they thoroughly enjoy.
The boys were able to help design the library and use the skills they acquire in the
campus woodworking program to make bookcases for the library. Having them
involved in the library's creation really sparked interest and pleasure. It is an
endeavor that will benefit all boys who enter New Haven in the future.

We had a wonderful surprise at our June luncheon. Some boys from New Haven brought us flowers to say thank you for everything we've done for them this year.
